einige Zeit ist nun vergangen und wir sind seit gut 8 Monaten zurueck aus Indien. Mittlerweile arbeiten Anne und ich aber fieberhaft an unserem Buch. Weitere Infos werden wir dann natuerlich hier veroeffentlichen !

yesterday we went on a day trip to Munnar. It was beautiful and will definitely and surely be one of the most unforgettable highlights of our whole trip! Munnar is a small town- famous for its vast tea plantations established by the British in the 19th century-about 125 km inland from Fort Cochin and lies at approx. 1500 metres above sea level, so it was quite a climb to reach it…! Gestern morgen um 6.30 Uhr haben wir unseren Fahrer Klietis getroffen, er hat uns mitgenommen auf einen wirklich atemberaubenden Daytrip nach Munnar, etwa 130 km oestlich im Landesinneren von Kochin entfernt. so haben wir heute mit Schrecken festgestellt, sitzen wir schon im Flugzeug zurueck nach Heathrow/London. Um so schneller haben wir heute eine Daytour nach Munnar am morgigen Sonntag gebucht. Wir werden mit dem Auto knapp 4 Stunden brauchen, pro weg, dafuer aber die wundervolle Landschaft in Munnar erleben. Munnar ist umgeben von wundervollen Bergen und Unmengen von Teeplantagen, so werde ich, nachdem wir Darjeeling auf eine andere Reise verschoben haben, doch noch zu meinen Teeplantagenfotos kommen ! On Sunday night, we took part in a very nice cooking class run by a very friendly Indian lady who also runs a little homestay and lives very close to where we are staying. She taught us four different very interesting dishes, mostly vegetarian,not too spicy..! and it was a lovely atmosphere (very international..) in her own little kitchen at the back of the house. Afterwards, we all sat down to eat what we had cooked and we all liked it very much. Unfortunately, I was to be the unlucky one though: very soon afterwards I got terribly, terribly sick and was really ill throughout the following night. Since one of the dishes was with tuna, it is pretty obvious that it must have been food-poisoning. I could have known better, especially after we had seen big tankers passing through the bay close by, shedding dirty water into the sea and knowing from what we had read, that seafood should better be avoided in Asia. But because we had seen it being thoroughly boiled and having cooked it ourselves, we thought that it would be all right. Bad luck, own fault! Anyway, I am much better now, but it was impossible to leave for Delhi on our train journey yesterday, so we have now postponed it until 26.2. and will stay a week longer here in Kochin. This way, we will miss out on going to Chandigarh, which we had planned during our last week, but since it is also so lovely here in the south, we are not really disappointed at all. Although I must say that I am looking forward to escaping this tropical heat soon, which gets really suffocating at times, especially in the night and at midday. Best wishes to you all, Anne
Vor zwei Tagen haben Anne und ich an einem wunderbaren Kochkurs bei Ms. Leela teilgenommen. Wir haben indische – vegetarische Gerichte gekocht und alles ganz genau erklaert bekommen, in einer umwerfend grossen Kueche. Auch indisches Fischcurry als einzige nichtvegetarische Variante und Chapati, indisches Brot, so aehnlich wie Naan, haben wir gelernt. Es hat riesigen Spass gemacht und es war natuerlich auch sehr lecker….womit wir auch beim Thema waeren…leider hat sich Anne ganz schoen fies den Magen verdorben, es fing ziemlich unmittelbar nach dem Kochkurs an. Mittlerweile geht es ihr langsam wieder besser, doch an unsere zweitaegige Zugfahrt nach Delhi war natuerlich nicht zu denken. Daher habe ich mich heute waehrend des Taxi, Faehren und Rickshawfahrer Streiks (der natuerlich so passend kommt, wie eine Magenverstimmung im Zug) nach Ernakulam aufgemacht und habe nach ewigem hin- und herverwiesenwerden unsere Zugtickets zwar nicht retten koennen doch zumindest neue Tickets fuer den 26. Februar bekommen. Bis dahin sollte Anne wieder fit sein und ausserdem ist es hier sowieso viel ruhiger und entspannter als in Delhi. Wir werden dann also am 28. Februar in Delhi ankommen und haben dort schon ein nettes Hotel direkt am Flughafen gefunden (ist insofern ganz praktisch, da wir mitten in der Nacht am Airport sein muessen…)
Somit werden wir nun die Tage hier zwischen Palmen und kuehler Zitronensoda verbringen. Bis bald und viel Spass mit den Fotos…by the way, es wird noch einigen Nachschub geben, in Kuerze !
